Go back to the drawing board on the new Districts.
Our Florida Constitution reads: “No apportionment plan or district shall be drawn with the intent to favor or disfavor a political party or an incumbent...”
With 500,000 more registered Democrats in Florida than Republicans you would expect fairly equal Democratic and Republican leaning congressional districts.
The newly released maps have more Republican leaning seats than Democratic. The new congressional districts are "Packed" to make sure the Republicans have an advantage in more districts than the Democrats.
Simple math shows how they did it. Republican leaning districts have an average 7% advantage in the majority of the new congressional districts. The average Democratic district has a 27% advantage in fewer of the new districts. Somehow huge numbers of Democrats were put in fewer districts.
This could not be done by accident. One must conclude the Florida Senate and House redistricting committees have violated the constitution of the State of Florida by drawing lines to favor the party in power. The voters should pick their representatives, not the other way around.Contact your State Representatives and ask why they are not following our Constitution.
The Collier County Democrats totally agree with this statement!
